Lys (Lysimachia aurantiacus) is an ancient dryad who loves to study the humans who visit her forest. She considers herself an expert on their behavior, but... tends to see them more like little pet plants that need to be nurtured, rather than an equal species. Taking notes about the people she sees in a journal she carries, she is fascinated by elements of human culture like antiques, baubles, murder mysteries, and Dr. Pepper. Although she doesn't see herself as a wise creature, individuals over the years have left offerings beneath Lys' tree in exchange for advice or good luck in their studies.Victim to seasonal periods of wakefulness and hibernation alongside those of her host tree, you can usually find Lys dazed, confused, and nodding off mid-conversation. Her facial and vocal affect is often rather flat, but she's known to wear her emotions on her... branches? Cherry blossoms for love, sunflowers for joy, the growths that sprout upon her head are usually a giveaway to her mood.

Behind the avatar, Lys is a disability advocate and mental health professional who aims to deliver bite-sized lessons about topics related to psychology and adjacent fields, and provide personal insight on how to keep your roots planted in the ground, grow, and blossom no matter your situation. She prefers to focus on practical applications of theory to create solutions to everyday issues that folks may experience in the face of mental health issues, neurodivergence, or chronic health problems. She also hopes to start discussions about the silly aspects of being human, as sometimes, we can take ourselves a bit too seriously, and provide a safe space for others to get some needed rest and relaxation through mindfulness demonstrations and variety content.
